The Qur'an was revealed to humankind as a guide and directive in navigating the complexities of life. One example can be found in verses that address the role of fathers. This research is motivated by the phenomenon of absent fatherhood (fatherless), which is prevalent in Indonesia and other countries. The study aims to explore the concept of fatherness in the Qur'an through the perspectives of Hamka and Quraish Shihab. A qualitative method is employed, utilizing a library research approach. The primary sources for this study are the books of Tafsir al-Azhar and Tafsir al-Misbah. Data were the analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. The findings include one narrative of a bad father, namely, the father of Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) (Azar) and five stories of good fathers, including the story of Luqman, Prophet Noah (a.s.), Prophet Ya'kub (a.s.), Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) and Prophet Shu'aib (a.s.). interpretations from both exegetes emphasize that a father should address his children with affection, instill monotheism and faith, forgive their mistakes, remind them to uphold goodness, prioritize communication, and act with firmesĀ and wisdom.
