RENDAHNYA PARTISIPASI PEMILIH PADA PILKADA 2024 DAN ANCAMAN TERHADAP DEMOKRASI
Abstract
Abstract: This article discusses the low voter participation in the 2024 Regional Head Election (Pilkada). Based on data from the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia, the voter participation rate in the 2024 Pilkada 71 per cent. This figure shows a decrease in the number of people or voters who came to the polls to determine their choice in the 2024 regional elections. Compared to the 2020 regional elections, where the voter participation rate reached 76.09 per cent, voter participation in the 2024 regional elections has decreased drastically. This article also discusses the factors causing low voter participation in the 2024 Pilkada, one of which is the inability of political parties to present the regional head candidates they need by the conditions of the region they will lead. Using the Library Research method, this article is expected to become evaluation material for Pilkada organizers, in this case the General Election Commission and Pilkada participants, in this case political parties, to improve to increase voter participation in future Pilkada.
