KESENJANGAN PENDIDIKAN ISLAM DAN DUNIA KERJA: ANALISIS KONSEPTUAL BERDASARKAN TEORI STRUKTURASI ANTHONY GIDDENS

Abstract


This study is motivated by the gap between Islamic education output and the demands of a dynamic job market. The focus of the problem is directed at three crucial aspects: (1) the dialectical relationship between a rigid curriculum structure and graduate agency (ability to act); (2) contradictions in the practices of Islamic educational institutions that have the potential to both reproduce and transform competency gaps; and (3) the duality of the position of Islamic education, which is caught between the competing interests of the state (regulation) and the job market (demand). The research approach used is qualitative, with exploratory-analytical literature study. This study critically analyzes previous academic texts, including journals, books, policy reports, and relevant curriculum documents. The data analysis techniques applied are critical content analysis and discourse analysis. Textual data from various literature were examined not only to understand the surface meaning, but also to reveal the power relations, ideologies, and hidden assumptions that frame the discourse on Islamic education and the world of work. The results of the study show that the tension between structure and agency is key to understanding. First, the curriculum often becomes a tool for reproducing the existing order, but the critical agency of graduates can be a transformative force. Second, Islamic educational institutions operate in an ambivalent space: on the one hand, they may perpetuate inequality through conservative practices, but on the other hand, they have the potential to be agents of change through innovation and link-and-match. Third, Islamic education is not a passive victim; it occupies a dualistic position that allows for strategic negotiation between maintaining religious identity and accommodating the logic of the market and the state, resulting in complex dynamics in preparing graduates to enter the workforce.
