Abstract

Elementary school children's career awareness is often narrowly defined and heavily influenced by their immediate social environment. This study aims to analyze the implementation of audiovisual-based social learning counseling and its impact on the development of career awareness in lower-grade children in the outlying areas of Jaluko District, Jambi Luar Kota. The study used a qualitative approach with a field study design at SDN 192 Muaro Pijoan and SDN 006 Sungai Duren. The subjects were first-grade students, with class teachers and parents as supporting informants. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results showed that audiovisual-based social learning counseling, implemented through the stages of warm-up, viewing, activity, and reflection, significantly expanded children's career references. Based on Bandura's Social Learning Theory framework, developments occurred in the aspects of attention, retention, reproduction, and career motivation. Audiovisual media functioned as an effective symbolic model in presenting professions that are not available in students' daily environments. This study concluded that audiovisual-based counseling is a strategic approach to expanding children's career awareness in outlying areas with limited professional exposure.
