TAFSIR KEPEMIMPINAN KOLEKTIF DI PESANTREN MODERN: ANALISIS AYAT-AYAT KEPEMIMPINAN AL-QUR’AN

Abstract


This study examines the application of collective leadership in modern Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) based on a thematic analysis of Qur'anic verses in Hamka's Tafsir Al-Azhar. Traditional Islamic boarding school leadership, centered on the Kyai (Islamic scholars), now faces the challenge of adopting a more participatory approach to respond to social and educational developments. This study aims to explore collective leadership values that align with Islamic principles, such as deliberation, justice, and shared responsibility. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method, focusing on Hamka's interpretation of verses relevant to the concept of collective leadership. Data are analyzed thematically to evaluate the relevance of these principles in the context of modern Islamic boarding school management. The results indicate that the application of collective leadership in modern Islamic boarding schools increases participation and transparency in decision-making, while strengthening resource management and character education of students. However, the implementation of this model requires structural adjustments and increased human resource capacity. As a follow-up, it is recommended that Islamic boarding schools formalize the collective leadership model through management training and the adoption of technology to support transparency and collaboration.
