BI’AH LUGHAWIYAH BERBASIS PESANTREN DI MA’HAD INTENSIF UNIVERSITAS AL-AMIEN PRENDUAN

Bi’ah Lughawiyah, which means language environment, is a strategic approach in Arabic language learning by creating an ecosystem that supports active language use in daily life. This research aims to analyze the strategy of forming a pesantren-based bi’ah lughawiyah and its impact on the Arabic language proficiency of students at the Intensive boarding school of Al-Amien Prenduan University. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with methods of observation, interviews, and documentation. The research findings show that the formation of bi’ah lughawiyah at Ma’had UNIA involves several strategies, including the use of practical methods such as muhadatsah (conversation), memorization of mufradat (vocabulary), speech practice, and discussion. These programs are designed by the language department officials (MENDIKBA) involving teachers, mentors, and senior students to create a conducive environment. Facilities such as language laboratories, a library with a collection of Arabic-language books, and discussion rooms support the effectiveness of learning. The impact of this program is clearly evident in the significant improvement of students' Arabic language skills, particularly in maharah kalam (speaking ability) and understanding of academic literature.Moreover, bi’ah lughawiyah also contributes positively to non-academic activities, enhancing students' self-confidence, discipline, and spirit of collaboration. This study concludes that establishing a pesantren-based bi’ah lughawiyah plays a crucial role in supporting holistic Arabic language learning, both academically and in character development.
