This study is motivated by the diverse interpretations, and even gender-biased readings, of Qur’anic verses concerning qiwamah, the distribution of inheritance between men and women, and polygamy. Therefore, these three issues constitute the primary focus of this article. The study examines these issues through library research using a descriptive-analytical approach, employing the double movement hermeneutical framework proposed by Fazlur Rahman. Through this analytical framework and literature-based research model, the study arrives at several conclusions. First, leadership within the household, as understood in classical doctrine, cannot be separated from the social context of the seventh-century Arab society, which was predominantly patriarchal. Regarding the distribution of inheritance, the moral ideal emphasized is the balance between rights and responsibilities based on the social conditions of society. Thus, the primary objective of inheritance verses is the economic protection of all family members. Concerning polygamy, the study concludes that the moral ideal of the polygamy verse is not the fulfillment of male sexual desires, but rather the provision of social protection for vulnerable groups. Accordingly, the principal moral message of the verse is directed toward safeguarding women’s rights.
